In March of 2023, Amy was diagnosed with a rare, metastatic, soft tissue Sarcoma cancer.
She is currently undergoing pallative treatment, consisting of radio and chemo therapy to keep the cancer at bay so that it does not spread more. There is no cure at this point, unless sequencing the tumor reveals a specific targeted therapy that could be used. While Amy is being cared for by her family in Maryland, Andres is caring for 5 of their 6 children while also devoting himself to freelance cinematography work.
